It’s official. NordVPN, one of the two consensus-best VPNs, has joined forces with one of the top soccer clubs in the world – Liverpool FC. According to the statement published on Liverpool’s website, this new affiliation aims to raise cybersecurity awareness and promote safe online behavior. This is the biggest sports partnership (if not the biggest partnership deal of any kind) ever landed by a VPN.

NordVPN will be providing Liverpool FC fans with internet security solutions, mainly aimed at international supporters of the club, who tend to watch games online. It will also help protect their online identity when connected to unsafe Wi-Fi networks in stadiums, hotels, airports, and other public places.

Another task that NordVPN will be taking up is educating Liverpool fans about the potential risks of using unencrypted internet connections not only in public but also at home.

“While individuals are ultimately responsible for the information they share, having an extra layer of protection is highly recommended,” Billy Hogan, Liverpool’s managing director and CCO said.

Marty P. Kamden, NordVPN’s CMO, also shared his excitement, stating, “We’re honored to establish our partnership with Liverpool FC, who we’re great fans of. We’re sure this partnership will bring more awareness about security and privacy issues online.”

As the first step towards reaching their mutual goals, NordVPN is offering Reds fans a special deal within a dedicated landing page (nordvpn.com/LFC) on the VPN’s website. Due to Cyber Monday 2018, the same 30-day money back guarantee, along with the $2.99/month billed every three years, is currently available to anyone who visits the regular Pricing page. This is set to change at the end of November.

Earlier this month, NordVPN’s main competitor, ExpressVPN, sent ripples across the online ocean by teaming up with Mozilla (following a similar move by Proton VPN in October 2019). Together, they offered Android users a 7-day free trial of the Firefox Lite app – a deal aimed at Asian markets, such as India, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. NordVPN’s global partnership with Liverpool FC seems like a worthy retaliation against its main rival.

With 41 major honors, including 18 Premier League championship titles and 5 European Cups, Liverpool FC is one of the world’s most successful soccer clubs. Founded in 1892, the club continues its story in the present and is currently one of the best-supported soccer teams in the world.

Meanwhile, the NordVPN service was launched in 2012. Since then, the VPN has grown its network to 5,100+ servers in 60+ countries. NordVPN is known as probably the most versatile VPN, combining security, speed, and ease of use. It has received favorable reviews from such publications as Wired, PCmag, The Huffington Post, and others. More than 8 million people worldwide use NordVPN.

The great myth of our times is that technology is communication. Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have a faith in people, that they’re basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they’ll do wonderful things with them.

It’s pretty nice ! I really like the fact that this will help bring awareness to cyber security and improve behavior on the internet, because I feel that too few people are aware of all the risks and dangers online.
