How to get Australian IP address

Australian IP address

Australia is fast emerging as one of the most prominent countries when it comes to internet connectivity. Although the internet speeds in Australia are quite slow, many services can be accessed once people find out how to get an Australian IP address.

We will take you through some of the reasons why you should try to get yourself an Australian IP address. After that, we will tell you how you can use an Australian IP for your connection and recommend a few VPNs which can help you achieve this.

Why you need an Australian IP Address

Perhaps unexpectedly for many internet users, Australia has some amazing content. Not only do they have innumerable music streaming services, but they also have some of the best kids’ shows on Netflix in the world. As long as we’re talking about entertainment, you also get one month free when you sign up for Netflix Australia.

On top of this, there are other reasons that people want to know how to get an Australian IP address. An Australian IP helps you prove you live in Australia, and this can be used to find numerous remote jobs that are available exclusively to Aussies.

How to Get an Australian IP Address using a VPN

No matter what your reason, you can use a VPN to get access to all the content that an Australian IP offers. The first thing you need to do is to download a VPN. Then, you can use your credentials to log in to the service once the application has loaded (you’ll need to subscribe to a plan).

Once you have logged into the VPN, all you need to do is to select any of the Australian servers either from the map or from the list. After that, hit ‘Connect’ and you will get your brand new Australian IP.

This process is almost exactly the same for all VPNs. There are many VPNs in the market that you can choose from, so let us take you through some of them and why they might be your best bet for an Australian IP.

Best VPNs for Australia

Australia is so secluded from the rest of the world that there are not that many VPN providers that bother having servers there. The slow internet, coupled with the distance and cost of setting up servers there does mean that only select VPN companies have established full-fledged networks there. We’ll tell you about 5 VPNs which fully support Australian IPs.

1. NordVPN

NordVPN service logo

NordVPN operates in 11 countries of the Asia Pacific region and has a whopping 690+ servers there alone. Nord is especially well-known for having excellent connectivity with its proprietary NordLynx tunneling protocol. NordVPN can also access Netflix Australia and allows torrenting on specialized P2P servers.

NordVPN has enough servers in its huge fleet to start creating dedicated ones for special purposes. This means that you will have access to servers with special DDoS protection, and have the option of using the Double VPN feature (routing your traffic through 2 remote servers as opposed to 1 for maximum protection.)

2. IPVanish

IPVanish service logo

IPVanish is a reasonable alternative as it has 120+ servers in the Asia Pacific region and allows you to download torrents on all of them. The main setback with IPVanish is that you won’t be able to access Netflix, and thus you should use it only if you want an Australian IP for other reasons. Do remember that IPVanish has some of the best speeds when it comes to Australian VPN servers thanks to the WireGuard tunneling protocol.

3. VyprVPN

VyprVPN may not be the most private solution for torrenting copyrighted content, but it definitely is one of the most secure for simple browsing. It is almost impossible for someone to gain access to your browser when you are using VyprVPN due to the advanced security measures in place.

VyprVPN also works really well in China. You can use it to access Netflix in a plethora of different countries, and the speeds are excellent since the company themselves own all 700 of their servers.

4. CyberGhost

CyberGhost service logo

CyberGhost has 370+ servers hosted in the Asia Pacific and 70+ in Australia itself. It’s great if you want to access some of the streaming services in the region such as Amazon Prime Video and the already mentioned Netflix. CyberGhost has all of the features that you expect an industry-leading VPN to have, but we wouldn’t recommend using it in China even though it has servers there.

CyberGhost is a viable alternative unless you plan to use your VPN to circumvent Chinese internet censorship. If you simply want to access Australian streaming services, then you can get an Australian IP Address using CyberGhost and enjoy a smooth experience.

5. ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN service logo

ExpressVPN is good VPN that has some great features in the market. It protects your traffic with its military-grade AES-256 encryption, has 24/7 live chat support, and has impressive speed on top of all that, which allows you to utilize the entire bandwidth of your connection.

Try Windscribe Free if you are just looking for basic surfing. If you need to stream/download media, Try Windscribe Paid or Express VPN.

This is very useful! Believe it or not, the Australian Netflix has an excellent collection of movies and old TV Series, which aren’t available in other parts of the world. Thanks a lot 🙂

I’ve used Nord, express vpn , cyberghost and avast as a test. I found IPvanish to give the most adjustable connections and better speeds. Avast secureline was just as fast but supports just one device at a time and is costly.

ExpressVPN is, sure, one of the most popular ones…but I was thinking to get the most secure VPN provider, so I decided to choose NordVPN. I am really happy about their service, and what concerns the overall speed, I haven’t felt any difference. What is also cool, I noticed, that they already launched Christmas coupon codes, you can try to get a discount with this one: FESTIVENORD.

Both NordVPN and ExpressVPN offer an excellent service, but I also stayed with NordVPN. Their security and encryption is a little better, and I find it easier to use.
