There are a lot of VPN solutions out there that are able to provide a well-rounded privacy experience. While it can be difficult to judge whether or not a particular VPN meets this standard, we’re here to provide you with a Seed4Me VPN review to hopefully help you decide whether or not it’s right for you.

Overview

For the purpose of this Seed4Me VPN review, we’re going to go over a few key categories of interest when it comes to VPN services.

To start off, the Seed4Me privacy policy has a “no logging” claim, but they do gather a certain amount of usage information for quality assurance purposes, which we will go over in more depth later on in this review.

The company also has a decent amount of servers in a large number of countries, making it quite diverse in terms of connection capabilities. This also lends itself (or should) for certain uses, such as Netflix unblocking and torrenting, which we’ll also talk about more later on in this Seed4Me VPN review.

We were able to perform some speed tests, and it looks like there is significant speed loss when using the service, but this is a very subjective statistic, and may change depending on your actual location. More on this below.

The pricing is one of the more interesting features, with there being a wide variety of options ranging from 24-hour to annual commitments. This is an interesting feature, and one of the only drawbacks is a relative lack of diverse payment options.

During our research for this Seed4Me review, we found that the client is well-suited to unblocking Netflix, as well as anonymous torrenting. There were no leaks or blocking issues.

There are also specific settings within the client for use in bypassing censorship in countries like China. While we weren’t able to test this setting, there is a decent amount of information on this topic available through Seed4.me’s blog.

One are where we definitely found a need for improvement was the customer service, while they were responsive and helpful, there is a distinct lack of support avenues which we will touch on later in this Seed4Me VPN review.

NordVPN is our top-rated VPN provider, known for unparalleled protection, the fastest speeds, and global coverage.

Overall, Seed4Me was a very straightforward and effective experience, with some minor problems, but promising. So now that we’ve gone over the Seed4Me VPN review in general, let’s get into the specifics of what makes this VPN tick.

Is Seed4Me VPN Safe To Use?

Seed4Me employs military-grade encryption (AES-256), with a decent range of protocols. The default is OpenVPN, with PPTP and L2TP as options for users to set up manually. It’s good to have a range of protocols to choose from, and this is a nice touch for security functionality in tandem with the high level of encryption.

Another nice thing to mention is that the client has an effective kill switch. This will stop the connection if the VPN suddenly stops working, potentially protecting against having your identity and traffic revealed by emergent VPN failure.

One thing to make note of, however, is that the kill switch feature is only available on Windows and Macintosh clients. If you plan on using this VPN over a mobile platform, for example, you won’t be protected by this feature.

When testing for leaks during our research for this Seed4Me VPN review, we found that the client did not leak any DNS, WebRTC, or IPV6 data, which is a really good sign for security and privacy.

Moving on to the legal stuff, the company is based in Taiwan, which isn’t part of any international intelligence alliances such as the Fourteen Eyes. While this is a good sign from a legal standpoint, it’s important for our Seed4Me VPN review to take a close look at the company’s privacy policy.

One thing that we noticed is that the company does in fact log some user data.

So as you can see, the company does in fact record some login information in order to perform quality assurance and detection of connectivity issues. While this isn’t a huge red flag for our Seed4Me VPN review, it is definitely something you will want to keep in mind if you’re concerned with companies logging your data.

Speed and performance

Next up in our Seed4Me VPN review, speed and performance. Here, we’ll be going over some of the technical specs of the client, and showing what happened when we performed some simple speed tests.

First off, it’s important to keep in mind for this Seed4Me VPN review that the company has 30 servers spread across a large amount of countries, which gives you a lot of options when it comes to connectivity and speed.

Now, we performed a baseline speed test to see where we stood:

As you can see, it’s nothing special. For our first test, we selected a server nearby, to get a basic idea of how the VPN connection affected our speeds:

Unfortunately, even connecting to a nearby server severely affected our ping and download rate, although the upload was largely unaffected.

After that, for our Seed4Me VPN review, we tried out a server in the UK. This showed similar results to the local speed test, and actually has a slightly better ping.

For the last test, we connected through a server in Japan:

Again, there was a significant effect on our ping, and the upload rate was severely affected, but the download rate didn’t slow down quite as much as with the other server locations.

These are some pretty dismal speed results, showing severe slowdowns across the board. This is to be expected to a certain extent when it comes to VPNs with such high security standards, but it’s still a huge bummer, nonetheless.

Of course, your speed results may vary from what we’ve got, so feel free to grab the free trial and test it out for yourself, if you feel so inclined.

How to download and install Seed4Me VPN

Navigating to the Seed4.Me website will land you face-to-face with a colorful landing page, detailing a list of platforms and providing some links and information about the service. In order to start the download, simply click on the link for the platform you want to try it out on.
The download should start immediately, and when it completes, you’re free to run the installer.

During our Seed4Me VPN review, we found the installation to be very straightforward and expedient.

Once the client is installed, you will be able to run it, and it will open in the corner of your screen in a quaint little pop up window:

The drop-down menu for location will allow you to select a server location. Once you know which server you want to connect you, it’s as easy as pressing “connect” to start browsing anonymously.

Apps and extensions

Fortunately for our Seed4Me VPN review, there is a sizable list of supported platforms that Seed4Me provides clients for, including:

  • Windows
  • Mac OS
  • Android
  • iOS

This is the part of our Seed4Me VPN review where we’re going to go over some of the versatility features of the VPN. This covers things such as whether or not the client is useful for unblocking Netflix, or whether or not it can be used for torrenting, or from China.

In terms of Netflix, the client seems to be quite functional in unblocking region-locked content. The company actually has a number of blog posts covering their Netflix unblocking capabilities. Check it out if you have any questions regarding the process.

Another big plus is the fact that the client appears to be usable from China. There is a special setting within he server list for connecting from behind the Great Firewall, and there is a large amount of countries where the company has server presence.

One unfortunate thing we should mention for this Seed4Me VPN review is that the actual Seed4.Me website appears to be blocked in China. However, China-based users can obtain the client by visiting their alternative mirror address.

The situation is similar for torrenting. Seed4.Me also has a number of blogs related to their client and it’s usefulness for anonymizing torrent traffic. Their ToS also does not prohibit peer-to-peer file sharing, and users online say that they’re able to get decent speeds while torrenting over Seed4Me.

Support

One area where there is definitely room for improvement, as we’ve said earlier on in this Seed4Me review, is their customer support. While their blog and email support system provide an adequate amount of help, an addition of live chat support, or even a FAQ section on their website, would be very helpful.

It is worthy of note, however, that their team seems to be quite responsive and helpful.

Pricing

seed4.me vpn prices

Seed4Me is another one of those companies that does something a bit different with their payment plans. As you can see, they have plans increasing in price based on commitment period, rather than functionality.

This is nice, since it means you get the full package, more or less, even if you don’t end up breaking the bank to do it. The flexibility of the choices, as well, is a nice touch.

More than that, Seed4Me doesn’t limit the number simultaneous connections you can have at any one time, which makes it a better choice for families and users with more devices than they can count.

For payment options, Seed4Me accepts PayPal, Webmoney, SBERBANK, VISA, Yandex, Qiwi, Webchat, and Google or Apple pay. It’s nice to have a wide range of payment options to choose from.

If you’re a crypto fan or just want to pay for the VPN anonymously, there’s also an option to pay with Bitcoin by contacting the support team.

The bottom line

This VPN performs very well at all price points, and has good, simple functionality designed to be as secure as possible, with a decent amount of servers and good location coverage.

The client succeeds in many of these respects, even remaining useful for the more difficult tasks such as unblocking Netflix or accessing content from inside China. There are some areas (like customer support), that could be improved, but overall, our experience with this client was fairly solid.
