Flexible with its pricing, requiring no registration, and offering decent encryption protocols, VPNJack offers plenty in the online privacy department. However, P2P support, a kill switch, and multiple device connections are missing which means it doesn’t fulfil the full criteria for a great all-round VPN.

VPNJack is an online privacy solution that was established back in 2010. Offering their service for a very affordable fee, you can make use of the service on each of the major platforms thanks to its compatibility with Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.

Great for those who have concerns over privacy, VPNJack operates with a clear no-logging policy which means that it doesn’t store any customer details – with no registration required in order to purchase a subscription.

But, just how exactly does this particular VPN provider compare to the whole host of other alternatives that are available on the market? Well, continue reading our complete VPNJack review and you’ll find out the answer to that very question, and a whole lot more along the way.

Security and privacy

When it comes to security and privacy, it can be said that it’s a bit of a mixed bag with VPNJack. One of the best things about the service is that you only need a PayPal email address to anonymously log-in, while it performed well when we conducted DNS and IP leak tests. Both of these aspects will be good news to anyone who is concerned about their online privacy.

In terms of encryption protocols, you’ll find that VPNJack makes uses of the following:

  • PPTP 128-bit MPPE encryption
  • MSCHAP-v2 authentication
  • L2TP over IPSec

As you can see above, the encryption protocols offered by VPNJack are somewhat limited when compared to many other VPNs. It would have been far better to implement 256-bit encryption via IPSec or OpenVPN, which are both far superior to the 128-bit PPTP – a protocol that has been cracked on numerous occasions in the past.

Does VPNJack keep logs?

It specifically states on the VPNJack website that no logs are kept via their service. The only information that the provider keeps is a log of the data usage of each user. This is hardly surprising considering the fact that it doesn’t allow P2P on any of its servers, which we will delve deeper into later in our review. This means that VPNJack will most likely utilize traffic monitoring, which may or may not put you off depending on how seriously you take your online privacy.

Speed and performance

Especially if you frequently download large files or stream HD or 4K quality content, a decent connection speed is something that is most definitely a necessity. However, depending on your distance from the servers themselves, you might just find the speed and performance of the VPNJack servers to be somewhat disappointing.

Of course, these speeds are dependent on numerous factors such as your base internet speed. But, trying out the service either on their free trial or a short subscription is recommended just so you can be sure the speeds are sufficient enough for your needs.

Server coverage

In terms of server coverage, you’ll find that each one of them is based within the US, as VPNJack focuses exclusively on servers within that particular country. However, an exact number of servers isn’t disclosed by the provider, which would have been nice to see them display on their website for full transparency.

Ease of use and multiplatform support

If you are looking for a plain and simple VPN application that you can get up and running on your devices, VPNJack probably won’t fit the bill. This is because a manual set-up process is required for the following platforms:

  • Windows
  • Mac OS X
  • iOS
  • Android

You can follow an in-depth setup guide available via the official website to get things up and running. But just bear in mind that additional features such as a kill switch and automatic wifi protection are absent – features which are often included with dedicated VPN software.

Unblocking Netflix and other streaming platforms

If you would like to get around geo-restrictions which are put in place by US-based services such as Netflix and Hulu, you’ll find that VPNJack is a solid choice at the time of writing. However, just be aware that you cannot use it to bypass geo-blocking put in place by any services or websites which are based outside the US, as VPNJack only provides you with American IP addresses.

P2P and torrenting

VPNJack specifically states that P2P/torrenting is not allowed on any of their servers. So, if you were hoping to invest in a VPN service that will offer you enhanced protection for that particular purpose, you will need to continue your search.

That way, you will be able to enjoy secure torrenting by choosing a VPN which has been proven to offer protection for P2P users.

Online censorship in China and elsewhere

If you would like to bypass the Great Firewall of China, or perhaps get around restrictions in another country which takes online surveillance seriously, VPNJack probably isn’t what you are looking for, as they only use US IP addresses. There is also no specific information available on the website to suggest that it can be used within China.

With that being said, this particular service has been proven to work for geo-unblocking purposes, albeit only for US-based services as we mentioned earlier in our VPNJack review.

Customer support

There are multiple ways to get customer support from VPNJack:

  • FAQs section
  • email support
  • setup guides

Unfortunately, there is no live chat option. Email support is definitely less convenient than live chat, so this may be off-putting for some. However, at least in our experience, it didn’t take long for us to receive a response to any of our queries.

There is also a convenient step by step guide which features comprehensive instructions. However, there are no screenshots included which some people might have appreciated.

When it comes to pricing, VPNJack certainly offers plenty of different plans, with each one coming in at a very reasonable price. Here are the price plans that you are able to choose from:

  • 365 Days: $2.49/month
  • 180 Days: $3.33/month
  • 90 Days: $3.99/month
  • 30 Days: $5.49
  • 7 Days: $1.99
  • 24 Hours: $0.99

Before purchasing, VPNJack recommends that you take advantage of their free trial, as certain VPNs can be blocked by your ISP. So, it’s great to see that the provider mentions this to their potential customers so that they won’t be left disappointed.

Each trial lasts for a total of 24 hours, although you are limited to a total time of one hour. This limitation can be removed by purchasing a subscription, which you are able to do either via PayPal, or Bitcoin if you would like an additional layer of privacy.

It’s worth noting that despite the great price for VPNJack, you cannot benefit from multiple device connections. So, if you would like to protect each of your devices and use them simultaneously, you will need to purchase a separate subscription. Another thing to mention is that there are no refunds, which means that you are probably best sticking to a shorter subscription to begin with, to be on the safe side.

Bottom line of our VPNJack review

A flexible pricing structure means that you have many subscription options at your disposal with this particular provider, as we covered earlier in our VPNJack review. A clear no-logging policy and decent encryption protocols provide some of the other reasons to consider purchasing a subscription – but only if you are after a VPN that only has servers in the US.

However, a lack of certain features such as a kill switch, P2P support, and OpenVPN/IPSec encryption means that online privacy buffs can obtain better security with other options.

  • Clear no-logging policy
  • Great for anonymity, they only need minimal information and no need to register
  • Flexible pricing, affordable
  • Decent encryption

  • P2P not allowed
  • Doesn’t support OpenVPN, IPSec
  • Only US servers
  • No multiple connections
  • No kill switch
