What can I use a VPN in Israel for?

There are quite a few reasons why you should use a VPN in Israel. To start off, it helps you stay private by encrypting your traffic and hiding your real IP address. Since Israel is part of the Fourteen Eyes intelligence sharing alliance, you need to put extra effort if you don’t want your data collected.

Moreover, Israel VPN increases online security. It’s much harder for hackers to target you when they can’t see what you’re doing. Additionally, the best VPNs for Israel often include malware blockers or even antiviruses that protect your device.

If you’re into P2P action, it’s crucial that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) doesn’t know what you’re downloading. Safe torrenting with a VPN ensures you won’t get a fine for accidentally downloading copyrighted content.

Putting security and anonymity aside, the best VPN for Israeli will help bypass geo-blocks. This way, you’ll be able to watch Netflix shows available in other countries only. Furthermore, by connecting to a VPN server in the US, you’ll get access to Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, and more streaming platforms.

Why do you need a VPN in Israel

For those who care about their privacy, Israel is one of the worst countries. Without a VPN, there’s no other way to protect your data and identity.

First of all, Israel belongs to the Fourteen Eyes intelligence alliance. Therefore, if the US or any other member country needs information about you, it will be transferred without a second thought. The same applies if you’re visiting another country – your online logs will end up in the hands of Israeli intelligence as well.

Even though Israel scores pretty well in Freedom House’s Freedom Index, it still has its share of problems when it comes to online censorship. Back in 2016, the Military Censor contacted more than 30 bloggers and Facebook page owners, asking them to submit security-related content before publishing. There were over 5,5000 governmental requests to remove content from popular social platforms, such as Twitter, in the last decade.

The Israeli authorities have a track record of blocking specific sites, from adult video sites to controversial posts on social media networks. Virtual Private Networks can work around those restrictions without any problems.

What’s more, torrenting without a VPN in Israeli is ill-advised. While there are no laws against that, you still can end up paying a fine for copyrighted content. Since your IP is visible when you download using P2P, the ISP can easily share it with law enforcement.

Finally, you won’t be able to access geo-blocked content without a VPN. Even if you have a valid Netflix account, some movies and shows won’t be available in Israel. The same applies to local channels and other media when you’re traveling.

How to choose the best VPN for Israel

We recommend choosing your Israel VPN based on these factors:

  1. Speed – how fast providers are influences their effectiveness for streamers, P2P fans, and general web browsers.
  2. Security – we only consider providers who take security seriously, from 256-bit AES encryption to full DNS leak protection.
  3. Privacy – we also exclude providers with dodgy privacy protection records.
  4. Servers – a good Israel VPN should have local servers if you need to access geo-blocked content from abroad.
  5. Streaming – a VPN should unblock multiple Netflix libraries and other streaming platforms without long buffering times.
  6. Torrenting – safe P2P is essential, but features like a SOCKS5 proxy or port forwarding can help a lot.
  7. Cost – price isn’t everything, but the best providers manage to deliver an excellent level of service and value at the same time.
  8. Ease of use – simple clients, plenty of simultaneous connections, and apps for every platform are all essential features of high-quality providers.

Which VPN servers to pick in Israel

Israel is not a big country, so most VPNs will have a limited number of servers to choose from. They will be in Tel Aviv most of the time, meaning that distance from your location is of no concern, even if you connect from another city. Thus, we recommend letting the app pick the server automatically.

Another reason for doing so is server overcrowding. If you have a provider like NordVPN which lets you choose a particular server, its load might impact the connection speed. That’s why auto-connect is the right thing to do because the VPN will offer the least populated option.

If you want an IP from another country, picking the closest one is recommended. This way, you will minimize latency and maximize speed. Of course, if the country is big, having an option to choose on the city level is crucial.

Bottom line

All of our Top 5 Israel VPNs will help you stay private online. However, they differ in features, supported devices, and prices, to name but a few factors. That’s why you should choose the service that fits your needs most.

NordVPN is the #1 choice in Israel because it delivers in all categories and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. It’s the fastest VPN available in 2021 that’s also great for torrenting and streaming. Most importantly, you can try it without risk thanks to the free trial and the money-back guarantee.

VPN’s seem to have many different purposes and I’d imagine some of them depend on where you live. Someone in China might need it so they can access the free world while someone in Israel might just want to access TV shows they can’t normally get due to geo-blocking. I think it’s great that VPN’s can offer so much to people.

NordVPN is indeed the best VPN that can be found on the market ! You can do absolutely everything, it’s cheap (let’s be honest you cannot have a better deal for their quality of services) and it’s just super powerful ! No wonder it’s the number one on the list !

  3. Poppy McDougall

I want to be able to watch Netflix and keep up on my social media while travelling this summer so I’m looking for a reasonably priced VPN to use. I also want to be able to protect my data from people seeing me on whatever wireless network I’m connected to, such as airports, train stations, hotels etc. It sounds like NordVPN fits my requirements.

  4. RupiK

CyberGhost seems like a great VPN but the fact that it’s Israeli-owned might be a problem for some users. Even if it’s said to be a safe and secure VPN, it might not be the best option to use it in Israel. NordVPN seems to be a better choice as it’s based in Panama.

  5. Farmer-Thornton

It’s no surprise that NordVPN would be your best choice for a VPN in Israel. In my opinion they have one of the best customer services ever. They really take care of their customers, as anyone that has been with them for years will agree. With a 30-day money-back guarantee, there’s no reason not to try their service out.
