The Philippines has a lot going for it. Beautiful beaches, vibrant urban centers, eclectic wildlife, and so much more. One issue you’ll face, however, is limited access to streaming services and gaming websites.

There are countries is Southeast Asia that impose stricter limitations on internet usage, but the current government is working to increase restrictions. If you’re in the Philippines or planning on visiting there a VPN can help you bypass these restrictions so you can access the content you want.

A VPN is the best way to circumvent geographic restrictions when it comes to online activity. A VPN conceals your identity and reroutes your activity to a remote server of your choice. This allows you to make yourself look like you are in a completely different country.

We tried out a bunch of different VPNs and found the ones we liked best. We looked at the privacy and security features, price, and the location of the VPN, particularly if the location is outside of the 5/9/14 Eyes. Here are seven of the best VPNs for the Philippines.

  • Unbeatable in terms of security and privacy
  • NordLynx protocol for the best speeds without sacrificing security
  • Great for streaming due to SmartPlay feature
  • No router app

NordVPN’s location is outside of 5/9/14 Eyes and is great for privacy. This helps make NordVPN one of the best VPNs for the Philippines. Panama is not very strict when it comes to surveillance. We also like NordVPN because the VPN works on all of our devices, including support for Linux, Windows, Firefox, Chrome, Android, and iOS.

We also like that they offer 24/7 customer assistance. The encryption they use is one of the best out of all VPNs, which is a definite plus. They have servers in 59+ countries. This makes it great for bypassing geographic restrictions. NordVPN also works great with Netflix and BBC iPlayer, which makes it ideal for streaming content.

The biggest drawback is that it is one of the more costly VPNs, but the positives outweigh the negative.

Surfshark VPN operates out of British Virgin Islands which have no data retention laws, so you don’t need to worry when it comes to privacy. What we like about Surfshark is that the speeds are great, the price is very low, and there’s a 24/7 live chat support service to help you out.

Surfshark has 9.4+ servers in 60+ countries but unfortunately none of them are in the Philippines. We had no trouble unblocking Netflix and other streaming platforms, and it also worked great for torrenting. It supports Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android.

This service is one of the best VPNs for the Philippines if you’re looking to save money and benefit from the unlimited number of simultaneous connections allowed.

  • Excellent security
  • Perfect for streaming
  • Great speeds
  • macOS and iOS apps have fewer features

Sweden has a reputation of being privacy cautious, so the location is good. We found the speeds to be more than sufficient but there are faster options. We like how easy mobile apps are to use, but Windows functionality was less impressive than that of mobile apps. PrivateVPN has 150+ server locations in 60+ countries.

We had no trouble bypassing Netflix’s geographic restrictions. Overall, the low price and decent speeds make it worth considering. You won’t get all the bells and whistles of NordVPN or ExpressVPN, but it excels where it needs to. Well-rounded, PrivateVPN is one of the best VPNs for the Philippines.

  • No-logging policy
  • Public wifi protection
  • Unblocks Netflix and other platforms
  • No anonymous payment

VyprVPN isn’t as private as other options. They don’t log user activity, but they do keep track of source IP address, and some other details like start and stop time. The encryption standards are quite high. The services worked for unblocking Netflix, Hulu, and BBC iPlayer content but weren’t always consistent. It unblocked US Netflix, but not UK Netflix.

One thing we loved about VyprVPN was the fast speeds. One thing we disliked was the layout of the desktop client, however, we liked the mobile apps. The network has servers in over 70 countries. Overall, there is a lot to like about VyprVPN, but we wish the privacy standards were a little higher.

  • Above-average speeds

Even though the location of IPVanish is far from the best, most users shouldn’t worry, knowing that a no-logs policy ensures their privacy. What’s more, this service has no DNS or IP leaks and uses a kill switch on all apps.

Moreover, IPVanish supports ten simultaneous connections. We had no trouble accessing geo-blocked content on Netflix US. It also works well for torrenting, which is supported on all servers. You can also use a free SOCKS5 proxy for your P2P needs.

IPVanish prices are fair and you can always exercise the 7-day money-back guarantee in case you change your mind. iOS users can also apply for a free trial. Finally, there’s a 24/7 live chat, ready to answer your queries.

  • Bulletproof security features
  • Super fast
  • Perfect for streaming, gaming, and torrenting
  • Very expensive

Another one of the best VPNs for the Philippines is ExpressVPN. ExpressVPN’s location in the British Virgin Islands is excellent for privacy purposes because the location has no data retention laws. The location also has no data retention laws. ExpressVPN has a zero-logging policy and also has some of the strongest encryptions available. The service has apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, and routers.

With 160+ VPN locations in 90+ countries, you can access geo-blocked content almost anywhere in the world. One thing we like about ExpressVPN is that they have a 30-day risk-free guarantee. We like that ExpressVPN is relatively fast.

We also like that it supports 5 simultaneous connections, although other VPNs support more. We were able to access restricted Netflix content without any issues. It also worked perfectly with Hulu. ExpressVPN is one of the more expensive VPNs around, but some of this is offset by the number of features the service has.

While ExpressVPN has some notable drawbacks, we still think it is one of the best VPNs on the market and is a good choice if you’re in the Philippines.

7. TorGuard

  • Excellent security
  • Great for torrenting
  • 8 simultaneous connections
  • Not very user-friendly

With a jurisdiction inside Fourteen Eyes, TorGuard’s location is less than ideal. Although we liked the usability of the platform, it’s better for people with VPN experience than it is for beginners. The mobile apps, in particular, are trickier to use than some of its competitors.

TorGuard has 3000+ servers in over 50 countries. If you’re in the Philippines you can still use it to torrent and bypass geo-blocking. The base version doesn’t gain you access to geo-restricted Netflix content, though. While the speeds were decent in general, performance varied depending on the server you were using. Overall, there are more versatile VPN providers than TorGuard.

Bottom Line

We thought that the best VPN for the Philippines was NordVPN. NordVPN has all the security and privacy features you need to enhance your online experience. It is also great for streaming geo-blocked content. It was also extremely easy to use. IPVanish was the best VPN for the Philippines for those looking for a bargain.
