How to watch TNT’s official stream outside the US

VPN changes Ip to watch NBA All Stars

If you’re outside the US, you’ll need a US IP address to access the streaming services. This is where a VPN comes in to help you get access to a US based server and connect to your channels effectively. If you don’t have the right IP address, you can expect to be blocked – and we don’t mean the basketball kind, we mean geo-blocking.

The TNT channel is geographically restricted to the United States, and any overseas servers will be denied access. The best way to watch TNT’s official stream from outside America is if you get access to an American IP address.

How can you do so?

The answer is simple: by using a VPN.

How can a VPN help you stream NBA All-Star Weekend 2019?

For this to be effective, you’ll need to appear as though you’re in the US. This is how VPNs works – it re-routes your device’s traffic through a server in America, which unblocks the content. VPNs offer better accessibility, privacy, and anonymity. Not all VPNs out there will get you what you want, so be careful when you make your choice. Here’s the one best VPN that we recommend for streaming NBA All-Star Weekend 2019:

NBA All-Star Voting 2019

Before the start of the All-Star Weekend, another important process ensues, known as the All-Star Voting. The point of the voting is to determine who will play and coach in the main event of the Weekend.

By tradition, fans from all over the world would select the starting fives from each Conference while coaches of all 30 teams choose the reserves by voting for seven players in their respective conferences, except for their own team. The head coaches of each team are determined by the regular season standings on February 3. The coach of the top team in each conference at that time is selected for the All-Star Game.

This year’s All-Star voting results weren’t surprising. LeBron James led the West while Giannis Antentokounmpo garnered the most votes in the East. Here is the full list of starters and reserves from each NBA Conference.

NBA All-Star Game 2019 starters and reserves

Eastern Conference starters: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), Kyrie Irving (Boston Celtics), Kemba Walker (Charlotte Bobcats), Kawhi Leonard (Toronto Raptors), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers).

Eastern Conference reserves: Khris Middleton (Milwaukee Bucks), Ben Simmons (Philadelphia 76ers), Nikola Vuceciv (Orlando Magic), Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards) Blake Griffin (Detroit Pistons), Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors), Victor Oladipo (Indiana Pacers).

Western Conference starters: LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), James Harden (Houston Rockets), Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors), Paul George (Oklahoma City Thunder)

Western Conference reserves: Russel Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder), LaMarcus Aldridge (San Antonio Spurs), Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans), Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets), Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors), Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves).

Changes in the NBA All-Star Voting system

The voting system has been subject to criticism and change throughout the decades. As mentioned above, head coaches were allowed to participate only once in two years to avoid the Pat Riley situation when he was the coach in the West for six years in a row. That is because the incumbent rule for selecting an All-Star head coach is to look at the team with the best record in a particular conference two weeks before the Game. In the 80s, Riley’s Lakers were a heavyweight that was more often than not leading the Western Conference.

In 2007, the league acknowledged the international fanbase and added Spanish and Chinese versions of the starter ballots.

The voting process was made easier in 2013 by merging centers and forwards to frontcourt players. This allowed voting for two power forwards instead of one power forward and one center in each conference.

But the main problem with the player voting lied in fans being biased. While in the age before the social media this could be controlled, in 2017 a campaign was made to put Zaza Pachulia, an average player at best, in the limelight. The league reacted with adding media and current NBA players to the voter’s list and giving each of them 25% of the total vote. Nevertheless, in the case of a tiebreaker, fans still have the final say with the number of their votes determining the winner.

In 2018, the All-Star Game format went through its most significant change. For the first time since the beginning of the All-Star Games in 1951, teams were renamed according to the top player from each Conference who has garnered the most votes from fans, current players, and the media. The player is named the team captain and is allowed to select his squad from ten starters and reserves in any Conference. The head coaches of each team still get to name seven reserves – two guards, three forwards, and two wildcards in any position from their Conference.

NBA All-Star Draft Show, February 7, 7:00 pm ET (TNT)

Last year’s draft for Team LeBron and Team Stephen should’ve been televised, but a protest from the Player’s Union put a wrench in the cogs of the entertainment business. This year, all possible issues have been dealt with beforehand. Therefore, we got to see James and Antetokounmpo selecting players one by one, just like in a pickup game from your childhood. James said it was a fun process last year, and it seemed that 2019 was no exception either.

The pool of starters and reserves has already been determined by the fans, media, and players. They voted for the starters, while the head coaches (Budenholzer and Malone) picked the reserves from their respective Conferences. Below is the final roster of the NBA All-Star Game 2019.

NBA All-Star Game 2019 final roster: Team LeBron and Team Giannis

Team LeBron

NBA All-Star Celebrity Game 2019, February 15, 7:00 pm ET (ESPN)

In 2018, basketball fans could see the likes of Justin Bieber, Flea, Jamie Foxx, Bubba Watson, and Quavo, who won the MVP as a member of Team Clippers. The participants of the All-Star Celebrity Game 2019 have been announced, and Quavo will be returning as the member of the Away team.

The Home team will be represented by Mike Colter, Chris Daughtry, Terrence J, Famous Los, Dr. Oz, Rapsody, Bo Rinehart, JB Smoove, Steve Smith (the NFL, not the NBA one), A’ja Wilson, Jay Williams, and Jason Weinmann. Their coach is Dawn Staley.

The Away team consists of Ronnie 2K, Adam Ray, Ray Allen, AJ Buckley, Bad Bunny, Stefanie Dolson, Marc Lasry, Hasan Minhaj, Quavo, Amanda Seales, James Shaw Jr., and Brad Williams. Their coach is Sue Bird.

The Home team has one thing in common, guessing which could be a question in a trivia show for quite a big sum of money. The answer lies in the name of the team – all have roots in Carolina. As for the people who made into each roster, some might haven’t heard about Jason Weinmann or James Shaw Jr. before, but they have made themselves a name already. For the first time, the roster is featuring a “hometown hero,” and those two guys fit the description very well. Jason rescued North Carolina flood victims during Hurricane Florence, while James disarmed a gunman at a restaurant.

There will also be a four-point line.

NBA All-Star Rising Stars 2019, February 15, 9:00 pm ET (TNT)

NBA All-Star Rising Stars 2019 is a basketball game between the US and non-US rookies and second-year players. Each of the World team’s players is from a different country, representing four continents.

Team USA will have a leader in 2018-2019 Rookie of the Year runner-up Donovan Mitchell. They will be joined by Jason Tatum, Kevin Knox (replaces injured Lonzo Ball), Trae Young, Kyle Kuzma, Jaren Jackson Jr., De’Aron Fox, John Collins, Marvin Bagley III, and Jarett Allen.

Team World will be led by last season’s Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons. It will also feature the sensational rookie Luka Doncic, along with OG Anunoby, Deandre Ayton, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Rodions Kurucs, Lauri Markkanen, Josh Okogie, and Cedi Osman.

NBA All-Star Skills Challenge 2019, February 16, 8:00 pm ET (TNT)

The winner of NBA All-Star Skills Challenge last year was Spencer Dinwiddie from Brooklyn Nets, beating Chicago’s Lauri Markannen in the Finals. What’s known is that he won’t be defending his title due to an injury.

This year the Challenge will again consist of a three-round competition, trying to beat the obstacle course which tests passing, dribbling, agility, and three-point shooting. Among the participants, we will get to see Mike Conley, Luka Doncic, De’Aron Fox, Nikola Jokic, Kyle Kuzma, Jayson Tatum, Nikola Vucevic, Trae Young.

The NBA All-Star Skills Challenge was first held in 2003. In the last 17 years, only Dwyane Wade and Steve Nash have won the contest twice, the former doing it back-to-back.

NBA All-Star 3-point Contest 2019, February 16, 8:00 pm ET (TNT)

While we won’t see Klay Thompson who went to the final last year, the reigning champion Devin Booker will be defending the sharpshooter’s title in the 33rd NBA All-Star 3-point Contest.

This year the number of participants has grown to ten, but other rules remain the same. There are two timed rounds and five shooting locations around the 3-point arc. Each player gets 25 balls to shoot, with regular ones worth one point and the multicolored “money balls” worth two points. Three first-round winners advance to the final round where the one to score the most wins the competition.

Devin Booker will be joined by the Curry brothers, Danny Green, Joe Harris, Buddy Hield, Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton, Kemba Walker, and Dirk Nowitzki, who we might be seeing for the last time participating in the All-Star Weekend. There’s a chance he might win his second title on February 16, the first coming in 2006.

The first NBA All-Star 3-point Contest was held in 1983. Larry Bird and Craig Hodges are the only ones to win the contest three times, also doing it in a row.

NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest 2019, February 16, 8:00 pm ET (TNT)

The participants of the 34th All-Star Slam Dunk Contest 2019 have been announced, and everyone is eager to know who will it be this year. Aaron Gordon, who was unable to participate last year due to an injury won’t be back, unfortunately. Donovan Mitchell also will not be defending his 2018 title.

The stage is set for the young guns – two rookies in Miles Bridges and Hamidou Diallo, in addition to the second-year players John Collins and Dennis Smith Jr. Whoever wins, it will be the first Slam Dunk winner title for him. In the history of the contest, only Nate Robinson has won it three times, doing it in 2006, 2009, and 2010.

NBA All-Star Game 2019, February 17, 7:00 pm ET (TNT)

The most anticipated event of the NBA All-Star Weekend 2019 is the game between Team LeBron and Team Giannis. Fans, the media, and current NBA players have voted on the starter and reserve pools from which both team captains will draw their team. In addition to that, Team LeBron will have Dwyane Wade, and Team Giannis will have Dirk Nowitzki as the special guest players added to the mix by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver in honor of their contributions to the popularity of the NBA and the game of basketball.

This will be the second straight time for LeBron as a team captain. Only this time it’ll be the Western Conference starters on his side. In 2018, he won a close battle by beating Steph Curry’s squad 148:145.

NBA All-Star Game 2019 location

Spectrum Center

This is only the second time when Charlotte is hosting an NBA All-Star Weekend at the Spectrum Center. Most of the younger fans were not even born in 1991 when The East defeated the West in a close two-point game. This will be a chance to shine for Kemba Walker, who will definitely want to show what he’s got in front of the home crowd.

In 2020, the All-Star Game will return to Chicago after more than thirty years. The next game will stay in the East, being hosted by Indianapolis. And the last scheduled All-Star Weekend for 2022 will be in Cleveland. Some suspect that this might coincide with LeBron’s farewell season or even a possible third and final come-back-home to play for the Cavs one last time.
