While the main role of the Virtual Private Network (VPN) is online privacy and security, nowadays, people use them for a multitude of reasons. For example, a VPN can help access geo-blocked resources like Netflix and other streaming platforms. It can also protect your P2P activities, stop the ISP from throttling your bandwidth, and even find better prices.

However, with hundreds of VPNs on the market, choosing the one that’s right for you might be challenging. That’s why we compared one hundred providers by price, servers, countries, and other criteria. Hopefully, this list will help you make the best decision.

How to use a VPN?

If you’re new to the VPN industry, starting to use one of them might seem complicated. Luckily, the opposite is true. Most VPNs have dedicated clients for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and other platforms that are both easy to install and use. And should you have any questions, you can always contact customer support – quite a few providers offer 24/7 live chat.

To start using a VPN, simply follow these steps:

1. Choose a VPN from the list below.
2. Sign up if it’s paid, or download the app for your device if it’s free.
3. Install the VPN app on your device.
4. Launch the app and be safe online!

We didn’t include the capability to unblock Netflix and other streaming platforms because only a few providers can do that reliably. You will find more on this in the detailed descriptions below the table.

90+ VPN services in 2024: a detailed list

Here are all the VPNs you’ve seen in the table above described in more detail. I checked the no-logs policy, jurisdiction, and tunneling protocol selection. The ability to unblock Netflix and other streaming platforms was also considered.

I also noted if the VPN allows torrenting and whether all servers are P2P-friendly. Moreover, I mentioned if the service is unavailable on one of the major platforms and pointed out other distinctive features worth writing home about.

Ace VPN

Ace VPN offers OpenVPN, IKEv2/IPSec, and Stealth VPN for use in countries with internet censorship. L2TP/IPSec and PPTP are also available, but we don’t recommend using these outdated protocols for your own safety.

This provider has apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Moreover, Ace VPN supports routers and Windows Phone. You can also use their free Smart DNS to unblock streaming on smart TVs and game consoles.

AirVPN

Air VPN is a secure provider that effectively combats censorship. It has a great kill switch, Tor over VPN, and Stealth VPN features. What’s more, this service doesn’t keep logs, meaning its Italian jurisdiction shouldn’t be a concern.

While AirVPN allows torrenting and has port forwarding, I wish speeds were better. It doesn’t unblock Netflix, so streaming fans should look elsewhere. Dedicated apps are available for major platforms, Linux, and ChromeOS, but you can also configure AirVPN manually on routers.

Aman VPN

Aman VPN is a free VPN with no bandwidth limit. At the same time, it offers an impressive server and location selection. You can install it on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS devices.

This service also comes with a Threat Blocker that helps against trackers and malware. For extra security, you can also change your IP twice and choose obfuscated servers in China, Russia, and other countries with limited internet access. Finally, there’s 24/7 live chat, a rare feat among free VPNs.

Anonine

By choosing Anonine VPN, you’re getting WireGuard support, in addition to OpenVPN and IKEv2/IPSec tunneling protocols. It’s also one of the few providers with the port forwarding feature. You can install Anonine on all popular platforms, configure it on your router, or use the Chrome extension.

There’s a 24/7 live chat, though it was offline at the time of writing this article. Anonine also claims to have a 100% no-logs policy. Finally, I liked that their payment options include cryptocurrencies, Perfect Money, and SMS (Sweden).

Anonymous VPN

Anonymous VPN is a simple and easy-to-use service, with apps available on Windows, Mac, and Android. However, you can manually configure it on your iPhone, iPad, Linux, and routers. They also don’t limit the number of simultaneous connections.

This provider has a kill switch, a SOCKS5 proxy, and OpenVPN as the primary protocol. While you can choose L2TP/IPSec and PPTP as well, they are no longer considered secure. Anonymous VPN is a good choice for torrenting because all locations support P2P.

AzireVPN

Based in Sweden, AzireVPN offers RAM-only and P2P-friendly servers along with WireGuard support, which translates into pretty good performance. On top of that, users get a SOCKS5 proxy and a no-logs policy.

AzireVPN is available on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS via TestFlight. Additionally, you can set up the service on routers and easily generate OpenVPN configurations on their website. It’s been 10 years since AzireVPN started its service, and it seems the company has at least another decade in them.

BestProxyAndVPN

As the name implies, this company offers both proxy and VPN services. The latter lets you choose from one location in the UK and three in the US. BestProxyAndVPN uses the PPTP tunneling protocol, meaning the speeds will be slower when compared to WireGuard.

There are no apps, just manual configuration for Windows, macOS, Android, and iPhone. Naturally, that means there are no extra features such as a kill switch, split tunneling, or malware blocking. All in all, BestProxyAndVPN is a niche service for those who only need to encrypt their traffic and hide their IP address.

Betternet

Betternet is one of the most popular free VPNs and also has a premium version that removes the ads. The apps are available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. There’s also a Chrome browser extension.

There aren’t many features to discuss here. Betternet doesn’t have a kill switch, so I can’t recommend it for torrenting. To sum up, it’s a simple VPN for encrypting your traffic and getting an IP address from another country.

BlufVPN

BlufVPN provides a good server selection across the globe. It has a kill switch and uses military-grade encryption. Also, 24/7 customer support is ready to help you either by chat or email.

There are dedicated apps for Windows, macOS, and Android users. Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge are also available. Currently, you can pay for BlufVPN with a credit card only, so I hope they will also add other payment methods like crypto.

BolehVPN

Based in Malaysia, BolehVPN is a no-logs service situated in a privacy-friendly jurisdiction outside the Fourteen Eyes intelligence alliance. It comes with a kill switch, OpenVPN tunneling protocol, and P2P-friendly servers. There’s also Stealth VPN feature against VPN detection and blocking.

You can download clients for all major platforms except iOS. There are manual configuration instructions for some router models. Finally, if you’re lucky, you may be able to unblock Netflix with BolehVPN.

BoxPN

BoxPN offers OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec, and PPTP tunneling protocols. It does a pretty good job when it comes to unblocking Netflix, but it might take some time to find a server for HD streaming. In the meantime, torrenting is allowed on the whole network.

Apps are available for Windows, Android, and iOS. Also, you can manually configure BoxPN on Mac, Linux, and routers. In addition to credit cards, payment options include PayPal, cryptocurrencies, and Perfect Money.

Browsec VPN

Browsec VPN is a lightweight service with a free version for smartphones and browser extensions. You can download Android and iOS apps plus Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Opera, and Edge add-ons. The Windows and Mac versions are currently under development.

Upgrading to premium Browsec VPN gives you way better servers, faster speeds, and ten times more countries to connect to. Payment options include credit cards and PayPal, but you can make a purchase via iTunes or Google Play Store as well.

bVPN

bVPN has apps for major platforms plus configuration tutorials for routers, smart TVs, and game consoles. It uses a rather unique Smoke V2 tunneling protocol for smartphones and OpenVPN over Smoke for the rest of the devices. There’s also a no-logs policy and six devices per account allowance.

bVPN doesn’t have a money-back guarantee, but you can try the service without registration for some minutes a day. I really liked there are plenty of payment options, including crypto, Alipay, Wester Union, and CASHU, to name just a few. A helpful 24/7 live chat is another great feature.

ChillGlobal

What we have here is not a VPN per se but a streaming-oriented browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge. With servers in 15 countries, you will be able to unblock Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime Video, and many more content platforms. And now the best part – you can use ChillGlobal for free, 20 hours/month.

There’s also a premium version that lifts off the hourly cap and unlocks the full server list. Of course, you can reap the other benefits of having a new IP address, such as finding cheaper flight tickets or betting if it’s illegal in your country. Overall, ChillGlobal is honest about what it is and isn’t – and I’m happy with that.

ClearVPN

ClearnVPN is a Ukrainian no-logs provider with OpenVPN and IKEv2/IPSec for protocol selection. It has a kill switch on all apps, stops trackers & malware, and offers 24/7 live chat.

There’s a pretty limited free version with no data cap but slower speeds and no streaming instead. Premium gives all shortcuts, removes the bandwidth limit, and allows connecting to other countries. Most importantly, ClearVPN will let you watch Netflix, Hulu, live sports, and more.

Disconnect VPN

With more than a decade of experience, Disconnect offers free, freemium, and premium plans, and only the latter is the full VPN service. The free version is a tracker blocker with encrypted DNS, while the freemium option adds a browser extension that can considerably speed things up. Apps are available on Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhone/iPad.

Disconnect uses OpenVPN and IKEv2 protocols but doesn’t have a kill switch. Torrenting is allowed on all servers, but I didn’t have much luck with streaming. In summary, it’s a good service for those who want to stop tracking and privacy-invasive ads while enjoying enhanced browsing performance.

DotVPN

DotVPN is a freemium provider with no data cap. It has apps for Android and iOS plus browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Opera, and Edge. Upgrading to premium gives you better speeds, P2P support, and no content restrictions.

This VPN uses OpenVPN for Android and IKEv2/IPSec for iOS apps. Mobile internet users will love that DotVPN compresses the traffic up to 30%, saving you those precious MBs. Even though it’s advertised, I was unable to stream Netflix.

DroidVPN

DroidVPN has apps for Windows and Android, so it’s great if you’re not planning to switch to Apple products. They did release a first Mac version, though. The free version gives you a few servers and 100 MB/day to use.

Upgrading to premium results in full speed and all servers becoming available. However, Netflix will remain blocked. On the bright side, there are torrenting-friendly servers at your service.

Easy Hide IP

You can download the Easy Hide IP app for Windows. There are also manual configuration options for Mac, Android, and iOS devices. You can select many different tunneling protocols, including WireGuard, OpenVPN, and IKEv2/IPSec, among others.

Easy Hide IP doesn’t allow torrenting and doesn’t unblock Netflix. I did like the speeds and responsive customer support, though. It would be great to see a kill switch added soon.

F-Secure Freedome

F-Secure Freedome is available on Windows, Android, Mac, and iOS. It uses time-tested OpenVPN and IKEv2/IPSec protocols and includes a kill switch. Furthermore, this VPN blocks trackers and malicious websites.

I liked that F-Secure Freedome has flexible pricing plans. You can choose from three up to seven devices per account, as well as the billing period. Last but not least, it has anonymous payment options, good speeds, and live chat support.

FinchVPN

FinchVPN surprised me with more than 80 payment methods – including completely anonymous options. It also doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, has live chat support, and a free version.

You can download the app on Windows and Android, but there are tutorials for manual setup on Linux and Mac as well. Too bad there’s only OpenVPN and the outdated PPTP tunneling protocol to choose from. Upgrading to premium lifts the data cap (although the cheaper ofter still has it at 25 GB/month) and gives you port forwarding plus customer support.

Flow VPN

Flow VPN separates itself from the competition with global coverage, offering 60+ countries. At the same time, it has WireGuard, which means better speeds. And while the AES 128-bit encryption also helps run things faster, it’s below the industry-standard 256-bit option.

You can download Flow VPN on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge are also here. I also liked plenty of payment options, including PayPal, Bitcoin, and Sofort.

FlyVPN

FlyVPN has a solid fleet of 1300+ servers in 40+ countries. It has a free version with no data cap, but it gives only 1 hour per day. On the other hand, you still get 24/7 live chat.

Apps are available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. You can also get a dedicated IP in the US or South Korea. Torrenters will also appreciate the SOCKS5 proxy.

FrootVPN

Choosing FrootVPN will get you a service for streaming, torrenting, and safe browsing. It has a kill switch, military-grade encryption, and a no-logs policy. Also, FrootVPN supports WireGuard, OpenVPN, and other tunneling protocols.

Unfortunately, this VPN has a client for Windows only. You can manually configure it on macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Chromebook, and routers, though. Premium FrootVPN users also benefit from live chat customer support.

Ghost Path

Ghost Path might be the best choice if you care about the environment as it runs 100% on renewable energy. It also runs hundreds of servers in over 50 countries, which means good global coverage. Among Ghost Path’s features, you will find a kill switch, port forwarding, and multi-hop.

Ghost Path has apps for Windows and Mac only. However, you can configure it on Android, iOS, Linux, and routers. I liked the option of anonymous payments by cash, in addition to crypto, PayPal, Apple Pay, and credit cards.

Good Access

Good Access is a good choice for SMBs looking to protect their local network and access office resources remotely. Depending on your chosen plan, it comes with 2FA, port forwarding, split tunneling, Threat Blocker, and more features. Starting with the cheapest option, you get live chat and email support.

Apps are available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and Chrome OS. The administrator can connect via web application and toggle the shortcuts that the users will see, add or remove members, interconnect networks, or access logs. Thanks to its flexible pricing, Good Access can be an option for many companies of different sizes.

Goose VPN

Based in the Netherlands, Goose VPN shouldn’t fly over your radar. It has a no-logs policy, OpenVPN and IKEv2 protocols, and a kill switch. Besides, Goose VPN separates itself from the pack with unlimited simultaneous connections.

You can download apps for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, and Android TV. It’s also possible to manually configure Goose VPN on routers. Most importantly, now you get this service for a special $1.80/month price when taking the five-year deal.

hidemy.name

hidemy.name has a decent range of servers across the globe while supporting OpenVPN and IKEv2 protocols. There’s also a so-called Chameleon (Stealth VPN) for use in countries where the internet is censored. A kill switch will protect you from leaks in case hidemy.name disconnects abruptly.

Apps are available on all major platforms, including Linux. You can also configure hidemy.name on routers. Windows and Android clients also have split tunneling.

Hidester

Based in Hong Kong, Hidester offers a modest server fleet across 40+ countries. In addition to OpenVPN, it has proprietary CamoVPN (Stealth VPN) and CamoWeb protocols. Hidester has a no-logs policy, a kill switch, and military-grade encryption.

You can download apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. P2P is allowed, but I did miss split tunneling or a SOCKS5 proxy. Lastly, Hidester also has a B2B option for smaller companies.

HotBot VPN

HotBot VPN is located in Seychelles, away from the Fourteen Eyes alliance. It has a pretty good server list (2000+) though the country selection (30+) could be better. A kill switch will help in case of a VPN failure.

Apps are available for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV. Unfortunately, routers aren’t supported. I liked that torrenting is allowed on all servers.

Hoxx VPN

Hoxx VPN is a US-based provider that offers both free and premium versions. The former gives you unlimited connections, no data caps, and over 50 locations worldwide. Upgrading to premium involves better encryption, faster speeds, and 24/7 email support, among other features.

You can download apps for major platforms plus Linux. Browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge, and Opera are also there. What I missed was P2P support.

VPN.lat

VPN.lat is a free service that comes with no data cap. It has servers in 69 countries, which is considered good global coverage. VPN.lat has over 10 million downloads on Google Play Store.

Apps are available for iOS and Android, so desktop users should look elsewhere. There aren’t any additional features to discuss. As one can expect, VPN.lat is a basic provider that won’t unblock Netflix or other streaming services for you.

Phone Guardian

Phone Guardian is a free VPN without a data cap. It uses IKEv2 for connection, but WireGuard support would be a nice addition. Phone Guardian has been downloading more than 10 million times on Google Play.

This provider has apps for Android and iOS. Unfortunately, that means you’ll need another service to protect your desktop and other devices. However, it’s a nice free VPN for extra security online.

Reason VPN

Reason VPN is a part of a Reason Security Suite that includes antimalware and other tools for small businesses. It has a no-logs policy and a solid 30-day money-back guarantee. You can download apps for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.

I have a reason to believe that Reason VPN would benefit from the WireGuard tunneling protocol that gives extra speed and security. Adding a 24/7 live chat would be great as well.

Zorro VPN

Zorro VPN used to have apps for all major platforms, but now they seem to have switched their focus to mobile users. It’s a lesser-known service, with just over 100,000 downloads on Google Play Store. Zorro VPN uses AES 256-bit encryption and OpenVPN protocol.

Registered in privacy-friendly Belize, Zorro VPN has no relation with the Fourteen Eyes countries. It’s leak-proof and doesn’t log. While this provider allows torrenting, you won’t be able to stream Netflix or any other content platform.

iProVPN

iProVPN is a very cheap service, especially when you take into consideration its excellent unblocking capabilities. I could stream not only Netflix but also Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, and other platforms.

The country selection is modest, and the speeds certainly could be better, but the pros clearly outweigh the cons. Adding WireGuard to the current list of protocols would undoubtedly help. All in all, iProVPN is a small but confident service for most devices with a privacy-friendly jurisdiction and a no-logs policy.

IronSocket

IronSocket is a good option for plugging your internet connection into. It uses military-grade encryption, offers OpenVPN, and has no IP or DNS leaks. However, it would benefit from a reliable kill switch, just in case.

There are 90+ servers in 39 countries, while the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, and Germany offer them in more than one city. Torrenting fans will be happy with the SOCKS5 proxy, but P2P is available in Cyprus, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Russia, Taiwan, and Ukraine. IronSocket has a Windows app and manual configuration for Mac, Android, and iOS.

IVPN

IVPN is a solid provider located in Gibraltar. It has a modest but fast network in 30+ countries with server load rarely exceeding 50%. IVPN lets you choose from WireGuard, OpenVPN, and IKEv2/IPSec tunneling protocols.

Depending on the chosen pricing plans, among IVPN features, you will find AntiTracker, port forwarding, and multi-hop (Double VPN). Apps are available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. Additionally, you can manually configure this VPN on routers and NAS devices.

Le VPN

Contrary to its name, Le VPN is situated in Hong Kong. It has an impressive global coverage with 700+ servers in 100+ countries. You can connect by using OpenVPN, IKEv2/IPSec, or its in-house HybridVPN protocol for enhanced geo-unblocking.

Le VPN offers apps for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. Furthermore, you’ll find manual configuration options for routers. While it may unblock Netflix and other streaming platforms, I had success with BBC iPlayer only.

Liberty Shield

Liberty Shield is based in the UK, a Five Eyes country. It offers just 8 locations, so make sure that’s enough for you before committing. However, this VPN is good for Netflix and China, a rare pair indeed.

You can download apps for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV. Unfortunately, only one simultaneous connection is allowed. This wouldn’t be an issue if Liberty Shield didn’t cost that much.

LimeVPN

LimeVPN offers two very distinctive pricing plans. The basic version comes with a no-logs policy, servers in 8 countries, torrenting, and 10 concurrent users. In the meantime, pro gives you Netflix, static IP, WireGuard, Tor over VPN, and 20+ devices.

While most users would lean toward the latter pricing plan, its price ($14.98/month), especially when compared to basic’s $1.49/month, is something to think about. LimeVPN is available on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and ChromeOS. What’s more, manual configuration for routers will let you secure your whole home network.

Mysterium VPN

Mysterium VPN is not your typical provider as it’s a decentralized P2P network where you can be the user and the provider. While it doesn’t require registration, you must trust each node’s owner. That’s why I wouldn’t recommend it for torrenting or anything that requires more privacy.

On the flip side, Mysterium VPN unblocks Netflix and other streaming platforms. It’s a new service that is still available for free, but you’ll soon need to make crypto payments. While there’s no iOS app, you can try this VPN on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android.

NetflixVPN

As the name implies, NetflixVPN is a good choice not only for Netflix but Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, Disney+, and many more popular streaming platforms. You can choose from servers in more than 20 countries, which should be enough to find your favorite movies and TV shows.

NetflixVPN doesn’t have dedicated apps, meaning you’ll need to install it manually on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, or router. Available protocols include OpenVPN, IKEv2, and a bunch of outdated ones. While NetflixVPN is cheap, you get two devices per account only.

NetMotion VPN

NetMotion VPN is a B2B provider for both SMBs and enterprise-level clients. It has full remote access, ZTNA security, and real-time employee data monitoring. The support is excellent, with phone lines in multiple countries.

There are two pricing plans available. The Complete option adds advanced analytics, diagnostics, network filters, and advanced system alerts. With NetMotion, you can easily secure an entirely remote workforce.

Orchid VPN

Orchid VPN is a blockchain-based provider. It uses a P2P network which can be compared to Tor, meaning there are no centralized servers, but you can connect to the US only. As a result, your privacy is based on every other user, and torrenting, while allowed, becomes riskier.

This VPN may unblock some streaming platforms, but I wouldn’t recommend it for watching movies and shows. There’s a kill switch, multi-hop, and no leaks. Orchid VPN is available on Mac, Android, and iOS.

OVPN

OVPN is a Sweden-based provider with military-grade encryption, a kill switch, and a WireGuard tunneling protocol. Besides, its no-logs policy has been proven in court. OVPN is also one of the few providers with RAM-only servers.

With this VPN, you’ll be able to watch Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and other content platforms. Depending on the pricing plan, you get from 4 up to 6 simultaneous connections. OVPN offers apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS while also supporting routers and NAS devices.

PandaPow

PandaPow is a small but solid provider from Hong Kong with servers across 15 countries. Naturally, it works in China. This VPN uses bank-grade encryption and OpenVPN but has no kill switch.

You’ll be able to watch Netflix and other streaming platforms, such as Hulu or BBC iPlayer. Torrenting is allowed, but there are no extra features to make it safer or easier, even though the service is quite expensive. PandaPow apps are available on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.

PandaVPN

PandaVPN controls an extensive fleet of 3000+ servers in more than 80 countries. You can find the full list of servers that unblock Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and Hulu on their website. However, I was unable to make any of them work.

From the security perspective, you get a kill switch and NASA-grade encryption. There’s a no-logs policy, and the company itself is based in Seychelles. You can install PandaVPN on major platforms, Linux, and Android TV.

personalVPN

personalVPN is a US-based provider known for its outstanding performance and customer support. It unblocks Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+, among other streaming platforms. Torrenting is allowed on all servers in 40+ countries.

Regarding protocols, you can’t choose OpenVPN when taking the Basic plan. Other than that, there are IKEv2/IPSec and Stealth VPN options. PersonalVPN has dedicated apps for major platforms and support for Linux, Amazon Fire TV, and Chromebook.

PrivadoVPN

PrivadoVPN is based in Switzerland, a privacy-friendly jurisdiction. It has a nice free version with a 10 GB/month data cap and 12 locations. Upgrading to premium removes the cap, allows 10 devices, and unlocks all 330+ bare-metal servers in 40+ countries.

Among features, you will find a kill switch, SOCKS5 proxy, split tunneling, and WireGuard protocol. PrivadoVPN allows P2P and unblocks some Netflix libraries. App selection includes Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV.

Private WiFi

Private WiFi has monthly, annual, and pay-as-you-go options. The latter comes in the form of 1 GB and 10 GB plans, great for users who don’t need 24/7 protection. All plans include military-grade encryption, OpenVPN protocol, and leak protection, but I missed the kill switch, to be fair.

You can download Private WiFi apps for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Unfortunately, there’s no support for routers or other devices. To sum up, it’s an easy-to-use VPN for those who aren’t heavy internet users.

Psiphon

Psiphon offers a solid free version without a data cap or registration. This Canadian no-logs provider has 1000+ servers in 20 countries. It uses obfuscation technology, meaning you can use Psiphon in China.

This VPN doesn’t unblock Netflix, and torrenting can be a problem due to relatively slow speeds. However, I liked that Psiphon supports all major platforms, though you need a Mac released in 2020 or later. The main benefits of upgrading to premium are better performance and no ads, but that’s available to smartphone users only.

RA4W VPN

RA4W VPN is based in the US but has a no-logs policy which effectively negates the impact of a Five Eyes jurisdiction. OpenVPN is the only tunneling protocol available, but that should do for most users. The speeds aren’t impressive, and most servers are in the US, meaning the connection might be sluggish if you’re in Asia or Oceania.

This provider unblocks some Netflix libraries but not other streaming platforms. Torrenting is allowed on servers that aren’t in the US or the UK. RA4W VPN has a Windows app, but Mac, Android, iOS, and routers will require manual configuration.

RapidVPN

RapidVPN offers a range of VPN services that can confuse inexperienced users. Dynamic VPN Service is a traditional VPN with servers in 14 countries. In the meantime, Residential IP with Smart DNS unblocks streaming platforms, with prices from $20/month.

In some countries, there’s also a Dedicated IP VPN option with port forwarding and torrent allowance. Moving on, we have Torrent VPN with servers in the Netherlands and Switzerland. Therefore, when choosing RapidVPN, you should consider the services you will or won’t use to avoid overpaying.

RocketVPN

RocketVPN is based in Russia, so it’s not the best option for journalists or anyone working with sensitive information. This provider unblocks Netflix and allows torrenting, but the latter activity is ill-advised for the same reason.

The speeds are pretty good, given that RocketVPN has servers in just 6 countries. Tunneling protocols include OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec, and PPTP. Apps are available for Android and iOS, but you can manually set up this VPN on Windows, Mac, and routers.

Ryn VPN

Ryn VPN offers both free and premium versions for smartphone users. The former has no data cap but shows ads and requires reconnecting every four hours. In the meantime, paid plans add Netflix, Hotstar, and 24/7 live chat customer support.

You can choose from servers in 35 countries. Security and privacy features include military-grade encryption, a no-logs policy, and no leaks. The Android app is available for 5.0 and newer, while the iOS client works with 10 and later versions.

Shellfire VPN

Shellfire VPN has a decent free version with unlimited data and servers in Germany and the US. On the downside, the encryption is AES 128-bit only, and the speed is limited to 125 KB/s, which is not much, to say the least. Upgrading to premium comes with bank-grade encryption, Netflix, and a full server list in 38 countries.

There’s a no-logs policy but no kill switch, while tunneling protocols include OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec, and PPTP. You can download apps for Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhone/iPad. There’s no live chat support, so users will have to rely on the FAQ and the ticketing system.

Shimo VPN

Shimo VPN is one of the few Mac-only providers available. It offers AES 256-bit encryption and leak protection but no kill switch. Additionally, this service lets you choose between OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec, SSH, SSL, AnyConnect, and PPTP tunneling protocols.

I experienced pretty good speeds with Shimo VPN and could unblock multiple Netflix libraries. It’s a decent choice for torrenting as well. Finally, you get 3 simultaneous connections, which is more than enough unless your whole family uses MacBooks.

SkyVPN

SkyVPN is a Chinese provider with a unique pricing model. Free version users can watch ads to earn premium hours and access servers in all 10+ countries. It uses military-grade encryption but lacks a kill switch.

The speeds were rather slow, and I was unable to stream Netflix or any other platform. I did like the split tunneling feature and the 24/7 live chat, though. You can install SkyVPN on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.

SlickVPN

In addition to a slick website design, SlickVPN offers military-grade encryption, a no-logs policy, but no kill switch. Available protocols include OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec, and PPTP, but there’s also one called Hydra that uses multiple hops for extra protection. I still wish there was at least IKEv2 as an option.

SlickVPN doesn’t unblock Netflix but can be used for torrenting as it allows P2P on all 150+ servers. You should know that this VPN only has apps for Windows and Mac but can still be configured on other popular platforms. One account allows 5 devices.

SmartyDNS

SmartyDNS is a Romania-based no-logs provider. It’s fast, unblocks Netflix, and allows torrenting. Besides, this service has a kill switch and leak protection.

You can connect to 14 countries in total. That’s not much, but the list includes popular destinations, such as the US, the UK, and the Netherlands. SmartyDNS has apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, and Chromebook, in addition to browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge.

SpiderVPN

SpiderVPN is a UK-based provider that unblocks Netflix and allows torrenting. It has a strict no-logs policy and a kill switch, which should make you feel at ease. Even though SpiderVPN has only 50+ servers in 30+ countries, my speeds were pretty good.

You can download apps for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and Amazon Fire devices. One account allows five simultaneous connections, which is not bad. If you’re new to VPNs, I suggest giving SpiderVPN a try.

Star VPN

Star VPN is a provider from Ukraine that doesn’t give out much about itself. It’s unclear what kind of tunneling protocols it uses and seems to lack features as such. However, I see that it doesn’t have a kill switch and doesn’t unblock streaming platforms.

Torrenting fans will be happy to know that Star VPN has P2P-friendly servers in three countries. But when it comes to customer support, there’s only an email on their website. You can test Star VPN by downloading it for Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS.

StrongVPN

StrongVPN is a strong candidate for becoming your provider. It’s good for Netflix and other streaming platforms, allows P2P, and is fast, thanks to WireGuard. Moreover, this service has a solid no-logs policy and a reliable kill switch.

I contacted StrongVPN’s 24/7 customer support and was surprised by swift and knowledgeable answers. This VPN is easy to install and use, whether you’re using Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, or ChromeOS. What’s more, you can manually set it up on routers, Linux, Kodi, and other devices.

SurfEasy VPN

SurfEasy VPN is based in Canada and belongs to NortonLifeLock. It’s easy to use, unblocks Netflix US, but blocks torrenting for everyone except the priciest plan choosers. The speeds were not that great, but not terrible either.

When it comes to security and privacy, SurfEasy VPN offers NASA-grade encryption, leak protection, and OpenVPN protocol. Moreover, it has a no-logs policy. You can download apps for all major platforms, and should there be any questions, live chat is there to help you out.

SwissVPN

SwissVPN is what you call a niche service. For starters, it offers one location in Zurich, Switzerland. Secondly, this provider has a fixed monthly price of $6.13 and requires no registration. What’s more, it has no apps, meaning you’ll need to configure it manually on your device.

Putting peculiarities aside, SwissVPN unblocks streaming platforms, supports P2P, and does minimal logging. However, its price is above-average, and I missed features like a kill switch or WireGuard protocol. While SwissVPN doesn’t have a live chat, I found its knowledgebase helpful.

SwitchVPN

SwitchVPN is a US-based provider that unblocks Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and more streaming platforms. Furthermore, it allows torrenting on all 250+ servers in 40+ countries. This service includes a kill switch, port forwarding, and SOCKS5 proxy.

While SwitchVPN doesn’t have WireGuard, you can still choose from OpenVPN, IKEv2/IPSec, and other protocols. Unfortunately, their privacy policy is vague enough to believe they keep personally-identifiable logs. However, if privacy is not your primary concern, you can get SwitchVPN for major platforms and use it on up to six devices.

TikVPN

With over 2500 servers in more than 70 countries, TikVPN has truly global coverage. Furthermore, it’s a really affordable service, with a two-year deal for just $1.25/month. That’s especially great knowing that this provider unblocks Netflix and supports torrenting.

While TikVPN has a kill switch and a no-logs policy, I still wished that WireGuard tunneling protocol was available. Despite that, the performance was very good. You can try this VPN if you have Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, or Amazon Fire TV.

Touch VPN

Touch VPN is a free provider that offers 500 MB/day. The premium plan is expensive, though, and doesn’t unblock Netflix. On the other hand, Touch VPN has a huge fleet of 5900 servers in 90+ countries, but that doesn’t translate to fast speeds.

You can select from HydraVPN and OpenVPN tunneling protocols. I wish Touch VPN had a kill switch for that extra protection. Apps are available for major platforms, and you can also download browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge.

Trust.Zone

Trust.Zone is a solid VPN provider with military-grade encryption, a kill switch, and leak protection. In addition to OpenVPN and L2TP/IPSec, it offers WireGuard, though you need to set it up manually. Torrenting fans will be happy with port forwarding and a no-logs policy.

I liked that Trust.Zone offers extra features, such as dedicated IPs, DDoS protection, or additional simultaneous protections. But what made me really happy was being able to watch Netflix, HBO Max, and YouTube TV. Trust.Zone apps are available for Windows, Android, and iOS, but you can also configure it on macOS, Linux, routers, and a bunch of other devices.

Turbo VPN

Turbo VPN is a free service with no data cap and a few servers. Upgrading to premium gives you 21000+ servers in 45+ countries, a kill switch, and streaming. Tunneling protocol selection includes OpenVPN and IKEv2/IPSec.

Despite its name, Turbo VPN is not the fastest option. So even though it allows P2P, downloading large files might take time. This service has apps for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.

tuxlerVPN

tuxlerVPN has a free version that’s slower and offers just some servers. On the other hand, it doesn’t have a data cap. Switching to premium gives access to 3000+ servers in 90+ countries, but you can also connect to any other user’s IP.

You may be able to unblock some streaming platforms, but speed will be the main issue. The same applies to torrenting. Apps are available for Windows and Mac, plus there are extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge.

UFO VPN

UFO VPN is a service based on Earth. Its free version has no data cap but offers limited locations. Upgrading to premium gives you 2000+ servers in 50+ countries, which means global coverage. There’s a kill switch and bank-grade encryption, but it’s unclear what protocols UFO VPN uses precisely.

Torrenting is available, and the speeds are good, but you won’t unblock Netflix or other streaming websites. UFO VPN has dedicated apps for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. And while customer support is 24/7, I still hope that live chat is coming soon.

Ultra VPN

Ultra VPN is located in the US, and its no-logs policy raised some questions. Putting that aside, this provider efficiently unblocks Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Hulu, and more streaming options. However, some users will be alienated by the lack of P2P support.

Kill switch, split tunneling, and malware protection were notable Ultra VPN features. The package also includes a password manager and a Dark Web scanner. Finally, their 24/7 live chat is responsive and helpful.

Unlocator VPN

Unlocator VPN is a good choice for streaming fans. It unblocks Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and many more platforms. At the same time, it allows P2P, but I did miss split tunneling or a SOCKS5 proxy.

Security-wise, you’ll get bank-grade encryption, a kill switch, and reliable tunneling protocols in OpenVPN and IKEv2. Besides, getting Unlocator VPN also includes its Smart DNS service. In addition to major platforms, you can download an app for Amazon Fire TV or configure the VPN manually on a bunch of other devices.

uVPN

uVPN is based in Hong Kong and has a no-logs policy. This provider offers a kill switch but no other security features. On the bright side, it unblocks popular streaming platforms and allows torrenting.

There’s a 7-day free trial for you to test uVPN first. One account gets up to 10 simultaneous connections. Apps are available for major platforms, in addition to browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge.

VeePN

VeePN is a relatively young provider, coming from Panama. It unblocks multiple Netflix libraries and is P2P-friendly. And while the speeds aren’t very fast, it should be enough for HD streaming in most cases.

The fleet consists of 2600+ servers in 40+ countries. There are quite a few features, including a kill switch, split tunneling, multi-hop, and WireGuard. Furthermore, VeePN is one of the few providers with a 5-year plan which costs just $1.67/month and has a 30-day money-back guarantee.

VPN.ac

VPN.ac is an easy-to-use service that unblocks many streaming platforms, such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and Disney+. At the same time, it allows torrenting and includes a kill switch. I was happy with WireGuard support, in addition to OpenVPN and IKEv2 protocols.

With VPN.ac, the speeds are fast, and the connection is stable. You can download apps for major platforms or configure the VPN manually on Linux and routers. The biggest drawback for me was the lack of live chat.

VPN99

VPN99 is a UK-based provider that you can use for unblocking Netflix US but not other streaming platforms. Unfortunately, for many users, torrenting is not allowed. On the bright side, you get cheap service with servers in the most popular countries.

Available tunneling protocols include OpenVPN, IKEv2, and some deprecated ones. Your encryption level will depend on your device and chosen protocol – it can be either AES 128-bit or 256-bit. VPN99 apps and browser add-ons are available on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge.

VPNCity

I’m not sure if VPNCity was built on rock’n’roll, but it sure does offer plenty of entertainment. You’ll be able to watch Netflix and other streaming platforms, plus torrenting is allowed. While I missed the WireGuard protocol integrated into the apps, other reliable options like OpenVPN, IKEv2/IPSec, and SoftEther are readily available.

VPNCity has a kill switch, a no-logs policy, and a malware blocker. The speeds could be better, but I can’t say the connection was slow. You can try it yourself by downloading the dedicated client for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, or Android TV.

VPNhub

Not to be confused with Pornhub, VPNhub is a whole different service. It has a mobile free version that can unblock Netflix. However, you may want to upgrade and get much faster speeds, all servers in 60+ countries, and 10 devices per account.

VPNhub is a no-logs provider with a kill switch and leak protection. When it comes to tunneling protocols, you can choose OpenVPN or IKEv2 and ignore the rest. Dedicated apps are available for all major platforms, plus Android TV and Amazon Fire TV.

VPN Lite

VPN Lite by KeepSolid is a solid provider that easily unblocks Netflix and other platforms in multiple countries. Moreover, it’s fast enough for 4K (UHD) streaming. And to put a proverbial cherry on the top – it also allows P2P.

Security-wise, you get bank-grade encryption, a kill switch, and a bunch of tunneling protocols, including OpenVPN, IKEv2, and proprietary Wise. There’s a free version with no data cap, but neither streaming nor torrenting is possible. VPN Lite offers apps for all major platforms.

VPN Proxy Master

VPN Proxy Master is based in Singapore and offers a free version for mobile users at the cost of security. This provider unblocks Netflix and some other streaming platforms. What’s more, the speeds were good and certainly enough for HD video quality.

Desktop versions let you torrent on specialized servers, but all of them are either in Europe or North America. Security features include a kill switch, multi-hop (Double VPN), and military-grade encryption. You can download VPN Proxy Master for major platforms plus Amazon Fire TV.

VPNSecure

VPNSecure is an Australian provider with a no-logs policy, a kill switch, and a Stealth VPN protocol to combat censorship in China and other countries. You can choose from servers in more than 40 countries. While it won’t unblock most streaming platforms, torrenting is allowed on most servers.

I liked that VPNSecure accepts many payment options, including PayPal, Paymentwall, and Bitcoin. There’s a lengthy 30-day money-back guarantee to test things out first, though. Apps are available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, not to mention support for routers.

VPN Shield

VPN Shield is a Polish provider that’s been active for over a decade. It works with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and other streaming platforms, but the speeds could be faster. Unfortunately, torrenting is not allowed.

When it comes to tunneling protocols, you can choose from OpenVPN, IKEv2/IPSec, L2TP/IPSec, and PPTP. I wish VPN Shield offered a kill switch, though. Apps are available for all major platforms, plus Kindle.

VPN Tracker 365

VPN Tracker 365 is a good choice for Apple lovers. It has apps for macOS and iPhone/iPad only, but they are made with quality in mind. Another feature that separates this provider from the pack is the large number of tunneling protocols.

There are plenty of pricing plans for individuals and teams. But as a B2B-oriented service, VPN Tracker 365 is not the best choice for streaming or torrenting. Customer support options include live chat, email, and knowledgebase.

VPNTunnel

VPNTunnel is based in Seychelles, far away from the Fourteen Eyes alliance. It offers military-grade encryption, a no-logs policy, and an OpenVPN protocol. Sadly, there’s no kill switch for the time being.

It’s not the fastest provider I’ve tested, but I’ve seen worse. Streaming-wise, it might unblock Netflix US, but not much more. You can download VPNTunnel for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS, plus configure it manually on routers, Chromebook, and many more devices.

VPN Unlimited

VPN Unlimited is a solid option for streaming fans. Thanks to WireGuard and an extensive server fleet, it has good speeds. Moreover, this provider unblocks Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and HBO Max, to name but a few platforms.

From a security standpoint, VPN Unlimited offers KeepSolid Wise (Stealth VPN), a kill switch, and leak protection. Furthermore, it has apps for major platforms, browser extensions, and manual setup for even more devices. This VPN is also one of the few that still have a lifetime pricing plan for $199.99 only.

WeVPN

WeVPN is located in the British Virgin Islands, a privacy-friendly jurisdiction. This goes well with its no-logs policy and the kill switch. I was happy to find that WireGuard is available in addition to OpenVPN and IKEv2.

When it comes to streaming, WeVPN worked with Disney+ and BBC iPlayer but not Netflix. Torrenting is allowed, but don’t expect split tunneling or port forwarding. Finally, the number of dedicated clients and supported devices is impressive, ranging from the Huawei app to Nvidia Shield TV.

X-VPN

X-VPN is a no-logs provider based in Hong Kong, a country without data retention laws. It uses an in-house Protocol-X for tunneling, which mimics other protocols. There’s also a kill switch, but for premium users only.

I was able to watch Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and more popular platforms. The speeds were good for streaming and should be OK for torrenting. X-VPN has apps for major platforms plus Android TV and Amazon Fire TV. There’s also support for routers, Linux, and game consoles.

ZenMate

Last but certainly not least on our list is ZenMate, a solid VPN provider from Germany. It has free extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge without a data cap but with a 2 MB/s speed limit. Going premium gives you unblocked streaming, Stealth VPN, and a massive fleet of 4800+ servers in 80+ countries.

ZenMate allows torrenting but lacks features like a SOCKS5 proxy or port forwarding. I was happy to find that the 24/7 live chat is responsive and knowledgeable. You can download apps for major platforms, Linux, and Amazon Fire TV, not to mention manual setup for routers, smart TVs, and game consoles.

What is a VPN?

In a nutshell, VPN is a service that encrypts your traffic and hides your IP address. The first feature means no third party can see what you’re downloading or uploading online because all data is protected with a military-grade cipher. Bottom line

Our list of 90+ VPNs includes a broad spectrum of services. Most are premium, but some are free, while others offer both. Not every provider unblocks Netflix, but then again, some users may be perfectly fine with the content they get in their country.

I want to stress once more that security and privacy should be of utmost importance when choosing a VPN. There’s not much point in using a service that’s fast and allows torrenting but leaks your IP address. Therefore, before considering other features, always look for AES 256-bit encryption, a kill switch, and a no-logs policy.
